Celtic are reportedly on the verge of signing Danish midfielder Oliver Abildgaard, with the Rubin Kazan star close to joining the Glasgow giants on a permanent deal.
According to Fabrizio Romano, the Hoops have reached an agreement with Abildgaard that will see the Russian Premier League maestro join Celtic before tonight’s transfer deadline, with the midfielder likely to be Ange Postecoglou’s final summer of the window.

The 6’4″ defensive midfielder has spent most of his career in his native Denmark as well as in Russia, with Abildgaard signing for Rubin in 2020 and making over 60 appearances for the club, including appearances in the UEFA Europa Conference League.
With Mikey Johnston on the verge of leaving Celtic on loan, the signing of Abildgaard could well be the Hoops’ final piece of business today, yet the midfielder is a solid new addition for the Glasgow giants for the new season, with the Dane bringing quality depth in the defensive midfield position.
Celtic fans should be excited by new signing Abildgaard

A towering defensive midfielder who has been a consistent performer in one of Europe’s most physical leagues, the one-time Denmark international is the kind of left-field signing Celtic fans have come accustomed to under Postecoglou, and like many of the Australian coach’s moves, fans should be excited by the arrival of Abildgaard.
After all, adding height and power to the midfield ahead of the UEFA Champions League campaign is always beneficial, and that’s what Abildgaard will bring to Celtic for the new season, with the 26-year-old also hitting the prime of his career as the Scandinavian star looks set for an exciting chapter in his career with Celtic.
