QPR and Scottish Premiership champions Celtic want Milan van Ewijk but Eredivisie outfit Heerenveen could demand around £10 million for the rampaging right-back, as reported by Voetbal International.

Just last year, PSV Eindhoven sold captain fantastic Denzel Dumfries to Inter Milan for a fee in the region of 12 million euros.

And while Van Ewijk has not quite hit the heights of Dumfries – a Dutch international and an Eredivisie Team of the Season member – it seems that Heerenveen are taking a leaf out of PSV’s playbook.

Because, according to Voetbal International, the Freislanders are looking to bring in a ‘Dumfries-like’ amount for Van Ewijk. That would require Celtic to splash out a club-record transfer fee for a player the Hoops could have signed for just £650,000 12 months ago, when he was plying his trade for recently-relegated ADO Den Haag.

“(The transfer speculation) is a reward for the good games I have played this season,” Van Ewijk said in the summer of 2021 when asked about Celtic’s interest. “At the end of the season, I will see what happens.”

Van Ewijk would eventually choose Heerenveen instead and impressed during his debut season at the Abe Lenstra Stadion. So much so that Celtic are reportedly renewing their interest in the Amsterdam-born 21-year-old.

It seems highly unlikely that Celtic would be willing to shatter their transfer record for Van Ewijk, however, even if the Premiership title guarantees Ange Posecoglou’s side a place in the Champions League group-stages. Celtic, after all, already have two excellent right-backs in Josip Juranovic and Anthony Ralston.

The report adds that Queens Park Rangers are also interested. But, having been consigned to another season in the second tier, Van Ewijk’s price-tag should be a bit too rich for the Loftus Road outfit.

Lille and PSV are hot on Van Ewijk’s heels too.
