Ange Postecoglou’s Celtic are eyeing a January loan bid for Dutch goalkeeper Marco Bizot although Ligue 1 outfit Brest will demand a purchase clause is included as part of any agreement, as reported by Homme du Match.

Bizot only arrived at the Stade Francis Le Ble three months ago.

But, after just 13 Ligue 1 matches with Les Pirates, the Netherlands international shot-stopper could be about to walk the plank already, his sea legs failing him on the banks of Brittany.

According to Homme du Match, Bizot hasn’t taken to life on French soil at all, with an early departure on the cards.

Celtic eye loan deal for Brest stopper Marco Bizot

It’s understood Celtic are weighing up a short-term loan deal for the 30-year-old shot-stopper who played a major role as AZ Alkmaar threatened to pip Ajax to the post before the pandemic stopped a thrilling Eredivisie title race in its tracks.

Stade Brestois are in no mind to shake their number one shot-stopper by the hand and wish him luck on his journey, however.

The report claims Celtic will have to include an obligation-to-buy clause in Bizot’s contract, although it’s not known how much Brest would demand for a player who joined the club for £850,000 in August.

Celtic’s interest in the 6ft 4in Dutchman will raise further questions about the future of Vasilis Barkas, the Greece international who hasn’t made a single appearance under Postecoglou since flapping at Evander’s free-kick during August’s Champions League qualifier with Midtjylland.

It remains to be seen, however, whether Bizot would be open to the idea of joining a club that already has an established number one in the shape of the rejuvenated Joe Hart.

Bizot has been linked with a move to Britain in the past. Sky Sports claimed in August 2020 that Premier League trio Sheffield United, Fulham and Crystal Palace were interested.

He was also linked with La Liga giants Sevilla at the time.
