Brendan Rodgers has confirmed that Celtic could allow Emilio Izaguirre to leave this summer.

Celtic may well be lining up the signing of a left-back, considering Brendan Rodgers is considering allowing Emilio Izaguirre to leave this summer.

Rodgers confirmed at a press conference yesterday, as covered by HITC, that Izaguirre would be allowed to leave Celtic this summer.

And while the Honduran international is not a first-team regular, Celtic will surely be scouring the market for a new left-back now.

Without Izaguirre, Celtic would only have one left-back available to them in the shape of Kieran Tierney.

Tierney looks set to continue in the role, after impressing hugely since breaking into the Glasgow side’s first team, but it would be a major oversight from Rodgers to go into the season with only one natural left-back available.

Rodgers has barely made a mistake at Celtic, so it seems unlikely he will leave himself short of covering options.

And that may well mean that the Bhoys have a deal for a new left-back on their agenda this summer.
