Celtic have snubbed approaches for Giorgos Giakoumakis with Premier League clubs interested in signing the striker this summer.
The Bhoys enjoyed a superb window last summer and that means a host of players are attracting major interest.
For example, full back Josip Juranovic is attracting major interest from Manchester United according to recent reports.
Celtic will need to stand firm in the final weeks of the transfer window and keep this squad around Ange Postecoglou, but interest is mounting.
Celtic have snubbed approaches for Giorgos Giakoumakis
Fabrizio Romano now reports that Premier League clubs have made approaches to sign Celtic striker Giorgos Giakoumakis in the last few days.
Celtic have snubbed those approaches though and have ‘absolutely no intention’ of selling him, considering him ‘untouchable’.
Giakoumakis is also thought to be happy at Celtic so there appears to be little chance of him leaving this month.
It’s unclear just who wanted to sign Giakoumakis but a number of Premier League clubs need strikers and may have been impressed with the Greek star.
Everton certainly need a new striker this summer whilst Wolverhampton Wanderers, Southampton, Leeds United and Brighton are also in the market for centre forwards.
Giakoumakis, 27, joined Celtic from VVV-Venlo last summer after smashing 29 goals in 33 outings for the Dutch side.
Giakoumakis racked up 17 goals for Celtic across all competitions last season and offered something different whilst competing with Kyogo Furuhashi.
Whilst Kyogo is a diminutive livewire in attack, Giakoumakis is a physical battering ram who can play as a more natural centre forward.
Celtic only paid £2.5million for Giakoumakis last summer and would be expecting a hefty profit on the striker if they were to sell this summer.
With Giakoumakis not exactly angling for a move, Celtic have taken a hard stance – and will hope to receive no more approaches before the window ends.
