Manchester United want Josip Juranovic with Erik ten Hag now keen to beat Chelsea in the race to sign the Celtic defender.
Celtic were in something of a mess at the end of the 2020-21 season and Ange Postecoglou faced a huge rebuilding job.
Yet with outstanding work in the transfer market, Celtic were able to coast home to the league title and many signings announced themselves as stars.
Jota and Kyogo Furuhashi spring to mind after their arrivals last summer, with Reo Hatate another quality addition in January.
Yet the most in-demand player from Celtic’s 2021 influx appears to be defender Juranovic.
Manchester United want Josip Juranovic
Juranovic joined Celtic from Legia Warsaw last summer with the Bhoys paying just £2.5million to bring him to Glasgow.
Celtic were told by Croatian journalist Marko Sapit that they were signing a ‘really, really good’ player in Juranovic.
Fast forward a year and Juranovic could now be lined up for a big transfer to England.
The Daily Mail report that Manchester United have joined the race to sign Juranovic, a situation few could have predicted last year.
It’s stated that United are giving real consideration to an offer for Juranovic, with Erik ten Hag now deciding he wants a new right back before the transfer window ends.
Celtic would allegedly demand at least £15million for Juranovic, seemingly eyeing huge profit on the Croatian international.
Chelsea are also interested in Juranovic though, with 90Min reporting earlier today that the Blues are plotting a move of their own.
Juranovic bagged five goals and two assists in 37 games last season and really impressed as an inverted full back on both sides of the pitch.
That tactical angle may work perfectly for Ten Hag, who has been using right back Diogo Dalot in a narrow role to help build in midfield.
Celtic will hope to keep hold of Juranovic but United may be difficult to fend off if they do come calling this month.
