Jamie Carragher has said on Twitter that he hopes that Roy Keane does not become the new manger of Sunderland so that he can have fun at his expense on Sky Sports when he speaks about Manchester United.

Carragher made the comments following Manchester United’s defeat to Middlesbrough in the FA Cup on Friday evening.

The Red Devils lost the tie on penalties.

Earlier in the season, former United star Keane had said that the Red Devils had signed Cristiano Ronaldo from Juventus to win cup competitions.

Carragher, a former Liverpool player, has mocked those comments on Twitter, and said that he hopes that Keane does not become the new manager of Sunderland so that he can have more fun at his expense.

The Northern Echo have reported that Keane, who now work as a pundit for Sky Sports and ITV, spoke to Sunderland over the managerial role at the Stadium of Light on Friday.

Keane himself has suggested that he is open to returning to Sunderland and managing the club again.

Sunderland are third in the League One table at the moment with 54 points from 29 matches, two points behind second-placed Wigan Athletic, who have played 26 games.
