Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has admitted that his side’s chances of progressing into the Champions League quarter-final after their brutal 5-2 defeat to Real Madrid are virtually impossible.
While the Reds famously came back from 2 goals down to beat Barcelona 4-3 over two legs in the semi-final during the 2018/2019 season, such occurrence happen once-in-a-lifetime to say the least.
However, a misfiring Liverpool side, who were torn to shreds by Real Madrid and may now find it next to impossible to repeat their heroics from 2019 against Real Madrid in the 2nd leg, even according to Jurgen Klopp.
Jurgen Klopp admits the Liverpool-Real Madrid tie is over
Whilst Los Blancos were 2-0 down within the first quarter of the game, they came back in vintage fashion and bludgeoned the hosts at Anfield.
To the extent that Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp himself deems it next to impossible to see his side overturn their 3-goal deficit against Real Madrid in the Spanish capital, saying, “Carlo [Ancelotti] thinks the tie is over. And I think in this moment as well. But in 3 weeks, it is how it is in these moments, the closer you get to the game, the bigger [are] our chances become and the lesser likely it is that the tie is over.”

“But tonight, with a 5-2 [scoreline] and when you see the game, it’s like, ‘Oh! They are pretty good at counter-attacking.’ We have to score, there [Santiago Bernabéu] 3 goals, so take some risks that could be a bit tricky.”
“But it’s really not in my mind. So, we go there, I can say already and try to win the game. If that’s possible or not, I don’t know now but that’s what we’ll try from there and we will see”, he said, as shared by Football Daily.
Jurgen Klopp clearly seems disappointed in his Liverpool side after they were ripped apart by Real Madrid and sees virtually no hope for the 2nd leg, as the likes of Jamie Carragher, Thierry Henry, Tim Sherwood and Jamie O’Hara echoed his sentiments in some capacity as well.
