Cardiff City, Aston Villa and Middlesbrough were all credited with interest at the start of the month.

A player linked with January moves to Cardiff City, Aston Villa and Middlesbrough is set to sign a five-year contract with a Serie A club, according to Di Marzio.
The Italian journalist claims that the CSKA Sofia winger, Kiril Despodov, is currently undergoing medical tests ahead of joining Cagliari.
The Sunday Mirror reported at the start of this month that Despodov was interesting Cardiff, Aston Villa and Middlesbrough, and had a valuation of £5 million.
But there is no mention of any British club within Di Marzio’s latest piece, which includes a photo of what appears to be the Bulgaria international arriving at Cagliari.

Despodov has scored or made 21 goals in just 22 games for CSKA this season, and was recently crowned Bulgarian football’s player of 2018.
Of Cardiff, Aston Villa and Middlesbrough, only the latter club has managed to strengthen in Despodov’s position this winter, signing Huddersfield Town’s Rajiv van La Parra on loan.

In the meantime, Villa have seen another winger, Yannick Bolasie, recalled by Everton, prompting them to bring back Andre Green from a temporary spell at Portsmouth.
Would Despodov have been a good addition for Cardiff, Aston Villa or Middlesbrough?
