Michael Beale has reacted on Twitter after Rangers star Ianis Hagi uploaded a video that sees him doing keepy-uppies in the gym. The Ibrox playmaker was due to be ruled out with a knee injury for the remainder of the season.

Hagi, 23, sustained the injury in a 4-0 Scottish Cup win over Stirling Albion back in January. The Romania international was forced to undergo an operation on his knee, which was expected to keep him out for the season.

However, there has been encouraging news on Monday not only from the player himself – but from his legendary father, Gheorghe, too. He told Sport Arena, that his son has told him he will be fit for the Europa League final.

That is, of course, if Rangers go that far in the competition – and while they drew Braga in the quarter-finals, it does seem unlikely. Hagi posted a video of himself on Monday less than 24 hours after Rangers lost to Celtic.

Michael Beale has since responded to the video on Twitter. The ex-Rangers coach, now at Aston Villa, responded to Hagi’s post by telling the £19k-a-week (Sport.Ro) midfielder that he cannot wait to see him back in action.

Beale to Hagi: Rangers star should take time with recovery

While the desire within Hagi will be return as soon as quickly, he has had to overcome a long-term issue. Yes, the tantalising prospect of being involved in a side that reaches the Europa League final will prove tempting.

But Rangers are unlikely to get there and even if they do, returning ahead of schedule increases the chances he will sustain further damage. A smooth return, a full pre-season, and Hagi will be raring to go ahead of 2022-23.
