Antonio Conte is a coach who likes control, yet the Tottenham manager took this trait to a whole new level ahead of their clash against Leeds this weekend.

A video posted to Twitter by Sky Sports News reporter Geoff Shreeves saw Spurs employees plucking the grass on the touchline hours before kick-off at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Indeed, such measures are hardly rare in football. With some coaches ordering specific elements to be enforced at the training ground and the stadium.

Yet Conte ordering staff to trim the the sideline with their hands is a new one. And Tottenham fans on social media were baffled by the bizarre decision from the Italian manager.

Whether it was for presentation or superstition, the hand-picking worked as Spurs claimed their first Premier League win under Conte. With the north London side beating Leeds 2-1.

Dan James fired the visitors ahead, but two second-half goals from Tottenham saw Conte’s side claim the three points from Leeds, with the result taking Spurs to seventh in the standings.
