Can Rutter play against Cardiff? Many Leeds fans have been asking on Google after the striker arrived in a £35.5m deal from TSG Hoffenheim.
The 20-year-old has signed a five-and-a-half year contract at Elland Road, becoming the club’s new record signing as he leapfrogs the £27m spent on Rodrigo back in 2020.
Having already been compared to Neymar in his short career, plenty of Leeds fans are desperate to see the Frenchman in action against Cardiff on Wednesday evening.
So, can Rutter play against Cardiff? Let’s take a look…
Georginio Rutter eligibility to play for Leeds against Cardiff
Sadly, Rutter cannot face Cardiff in the FA Cup third round replay at Elland Road on Wednesday evening.
FA rules state that a player can only take part in an FA Cup replay if they were involved in the original fixture.

Of course, Rutter was still playing for TSG Hoffenheim in Germany when Leeds drew 2-2 against Cardiff in Wales on Sunday 8th January.
The France Under-21 international will, however, be at Elland Road for the FA Cup clash.
Leeds are expected to introduce Rutter to the supporters ahead of the clash with Cardiff – as detailed by the Whites in their official announcement of his arrival.
Leeds fans must be patient with Rutter
Understandably, there will be huge expectation towards Rutter given his significant transfer fee.
However, Leeds fans must be patient with the Frenchman, and not get on his back if he endures a difficult start.
The Plescop-born forward is just 20 years of age, and has only scored two goals in 15 Bundesliga appearances this season as he adjusted to life in Germany’s top-flight.
English football is notoriously physical and difficult to become acclimatised to, so if Rutter suffers a slow start, he should not be chastised for it.
If Leeds fans stick with him and show him support, they are likely to witness some great things once their new boy gets his feet under the table.
