Speculation around Bryan Mbeumo’s potential move to Manchester United has been swirling for weeks, but there’s still no sign of progress.

Despite making him a top priority, Ineos have not shown much urgency in getting the deal over the line.

It has now been more than a month since their initial bid was turned down, and their follow-up offer fared no better.

Mbeumo is still waiting for an agreement between Ineos and Brentford. The Cameroonian international is currently on holiday in the US and hasn’t joined up with Brentford for pre-season.

Transfer deals often take time, but the drawn-out process of bringing Bryan Mbeumo to Old Trafford has started to raise eyebrows.

Multiple sources suggest Mbeumo is looking forward to joining Man United’s pre-season, but he can’t do so until the Bees and the Red Devils reach an agreement.

Cameroon assistant coach Ashu Cyprian Besong spoke to Telecom Asia about how Mbeumo is handling the situation and the extended wait for a resolution.

“Yes, obviously, he’s very frustrated with how long it’s taken. But he’s a professional and anticipates these things.

“I spoke to him about a week ago, and he is very calm with everything that is going on. But of course, he’s already told them he wants to go to United.

“He just wanted the two clubs to find an agreement, as he’s very grateful for the opportunity that he’s been given by Brentford in his career.”

Manchester United may have to wait a bit longer for Mbeumo’s arrival

Although an agreement hasn’t been finalised yet, it still looks likely that Mbeumo’s move to Manchester United will eventually get over the line.

HITC’s understanding is that the club are aiming to have him signed and ready for their US tour, which kicks off in just under two weeks.

The deal itself might not take quite that long, but the club have set this as their internal target. The move is expected to be around £65 million, with only minor details left to sort out.

The lack of movement on both incoming transfers and player sales is beginning to raise concerns and may even test Ruben Amorim’s trust in Ineos.

By the time the tour starts, United will need more than just Mbeumo in place. There’s still time, but the club need to pick up the pace.
