Matheus Cunha has shared his thoughts on his first week with Manchester United after reporting for pre-season training at Carrington.
Cunha made the move from Wolves early in the window, but it’s been a quiet summer since then, and fans are still waiting for more activity.
United are still working to bring in Bryan Mbeumo from Brentford, while Diego Leon has already joined from Cerro Porteno.
Cunha’s arrival is a welcome boost, especially after his impressive season at Wolves where he scored 17 goals. Ruben Amorim will be hoping he can bring that same form to Old Trafford.
He looked sharp on the opening day of pre-season on July 7 and should get plenty of minutes in the upcoming friendlies as he settles into his new surroundings.

The first chance for fans to see Cunha in action will come next week when United face Leeds in Stockholm. It’ll be his debut appearance for the club, and expectations will be high.
Matheus Cunha: Grateful for ‘Warm Welcome’ at Manchester United
Matheus Cunha has spoken about his first week of training with Manchester United, describing the experience as a positive one.
Over time, he’ll have the chance to build stronger relationships with his new teammates and get comfortable within Ruben Amorim’s system.
The 26-year-old, who has taken over the number 10 shirt from Marcus Rashford, mentioned that he felt a warm welcome as soon as he arrived at Carrington.
“We’re joking when I go to the locker room, we’re talking about some games, especially with Maz [Noussair Mazraoui],” Cunha told the official Manchester United website. “I think it’s always with him, my [individual] battle.
“But, of course, we’re talking about the games, we’re talking about the seasons and then, yeah, I think everyone was very lovely with me. [It was a] very warm welcome.”
United will step up their training programme next week ahead of the game against Leeds before travelling to the United States for the Premier League Summer Series pre-season tournament.
Cunha inspired by previous Man Utd forwards
Having worn no.10 during his time at Wolves as well, Cunha knows what comes with that number at United.
The Brazil international takes great pride in his squad number and is looking to replicate some of United’s most celebrated forwards in recent years. This includes Wayne Rooney and Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

He added: “Yeah, wow. It’s something that you always dream about.
“I can mention many players that use this shirt. It’s so easy for me.
“Of course, I think the one that I always think about when I see this number in this shirt for me was Wayne Rooney. He was someone that I grew up to watch him play and I have [watched] many games now.
“Then I swapped shirts with Marcus [Rashford], after a game also, I have his shirt in my home. But, of course, we know many players used this shirt – [Ruud] van Nistelrooy, [Zlatan] Ibrahimovic.
“It’s a dream not only to use the shirt but with all the history they have around the number, it’s something beautiful that I have a privilege to do it.”
