Ripper GC captain Cameron Smith has incredibly high hopes for the future of another LIV golfer.
Smith is absolutely convinced that one of his teammates has the potential to become the best player in the world.
That would involve overtaking the existing top two in the OWGR: Scottie Scheffler and Rory McIlroy.
However, Smith’s statement does not sound so ridiculous after the LIV Golf event in Riyadh this week.
Cameron Smith tips Elvis Smylie to become world’s best golfer
23-year-old Australian Elvis Smylie is one of the most exciting young golfers on the planet.
Smylie recently joined Smith’s Ripper GC team on LIV Golf with expectations that he could contribute immediately.
However, not even Smith would have expected him to win his debut tournament on the LIV circuit.

Smylie stole the show in Saudi Arabia with a one-shot victory over Jon Rahm to clinch the title.
Smith believes this is just the start of a career that could reach the pinnacle of the sport.
“I think Elvis wants to be one of the best players in the world. He proved it this week,” Smith said after the event.
“The crazy thing is, I still think he’s got a lot of improving to go, which is pretty scary, really, for the rest of us, because he waxed us this week.
“I genuinely think he can be the best golfer in the world. He’s got all the tools of the trade. He just needs to keep doing what he’s doing and knuckle down.
“He’s got the mentality. He showed it out there today. He’s got the grit. He’s a Queenslander, so that comes with it.“
Elvis Smylie reacts to LIV Golf Riyadh win
Smylie was, unsurprisingly, delighted with his performance at LIV Golf Riyadh this week.
He felt like he had a point to prove as the latest addition to the Ripper GC team, and it didn’t take him long to prove it.
“It’s a dream come true,” Smylie reflected. “I really didn’t know what to expect this week. Playing at night is obviously a whole different ballgame out here.
“I wanted to come out here and make a statement. I wanted to prove that I’m one of the best out here, and I feel like I’ve done that. It’s only up from here.”
Smylie will now have his sights set on LIV’s return to his homeland, Australia, next week.
