Burnley coach Vincent Kompany looks set to raid Anderlecht again with Enock Agyei on his way to the Championship leaders from the Belgian giants, according to Het Laaste Nieuws (live blog, 12.53pm).

Last summer, the Clarets snapped up Josh Cullen from Anderlecht. And, if you were to rank the most important, transformative additions made by Championship clubs over the last 12 months or so, the Republic of Ireland international would rank somewhere near the very top.

Cullen has helped transform Burnley from a direct, two-banks-of-four outfit into one who dominates ball. Strangling opponents to death with their patient, possession play.

18-year-old Agyei is perhaps unlikely to make such an immediate impact, however.

The teenager may be one for the future rather than someone capable of commanding a starting berth under Kompany immediately. Agyei currently plays for Anderlecht’s reserve team in the Belgian second tier. He has four goals and one assist from 17 games this season, lining up usually on the right wing.

Burnley could sign Anderlecht winger Enock Agyei on deadline day

Burnley, who appointed former RCSA coach Kompany as Sean Dyche’s replacement last year, came calling for Agyei in the summer too.

“You see it in many places. Even at Man Utd, Ten Hag brought players he knew from his time at Ajax,” Kompany told the Burnley Express; quizzed about his interest in a host of Anderlecht talent, including Agyei, Cullen and goalkeeper Bart Verbruggen.

Agyei, Het Nieuwsblad say, turned down Burnley in favour of staying at Anderlecht six months ago. He looks set to renege on that decision on the final day of the January window, however; HLN now reporting that Agyei is ‘on his way’ to Turf Moor.

His contract expires in July.

Burnley have already signed Ameen Al Dakhil, Hjalmar Ekdal, Lyle Foster and Michael Obafemi this month. They are also keen on Sporting Lisbon’s Jovane Cabral and Konyaspor’s Amir Hadziahmetovic.

PSV youngster Jenson Seelt, however, will not be joining.
