PSV Eindhoven youngster Jenson Seelt admits he is ‘disappointed’ and ‘frustrated’ after seeing a potential £2 million move to Championship leaders Burnley fell through, speaking to the Algemeen Dagblad.

The number of new signings at Turf Moor since Vincent Kompany was appointed as Sean Dyche’s successor last year now stands at a remarkable 19. Swansea City striker Michael Obafemi should round it up to 20 when he seals his long-awaited switch (Daily Mail)

Even more impressively, Burnley have enjoyed far more hits than misses. Anass Zaroury, Manuel Benson, Josh Cullen and co have made a huge impact at Turf Moor, helping transform Burnley from a direct, two-banks-of-four side into one of the most free-flowing outfits in English football.

They are also a Championship team in name only these days. There is an 18 point gap between Burley at the top of the table and Watford in third; a return to the Premier League a case of ‘when’ rather than ‘if’ even at this early stage.

No wonder 19-year-old Seelt felt a move to Lancashire would be a ‘great opportunity’; the teenager yet to force his way into the PSV first-team back home in the Netherlands.

Burnley had hoped to sign Jenson Seelt from Eredivisie giants PSV Eindhoven

“Of course, I was disappointed and frustrated. This was a great opportunity for me,” Seelt says, reflecting on that failed Clarets switch.

“PSV and Burnley have had many talks. But, in the end, the clubs did not come to an agreement. It does not seem (likely to) get around (the problem) in the last final of the transfer window.”

According to AD, Burnley would have paid around £2 million, including bonuses, for Seelt. A 6ft 4ins centre-half, he currently plays for PSV’s reserve team in the Dutch second tier.

“I can walk around grumpy, but that is of no use to anyone,” Seelt adds, determined to stay positive.

“I have developed well in recent seasons. Also, on a personal level. I try to enjoy the process. Even the little things, such as a practice match at training that goes well, the fun with team-mates or a successful moment during a match.

“I have confidence in myself, and have the feeling that there will be even better options next summer.”

After talks with PSV broke down, Burnley turned their attention to Ameen Al-Dakhil and Sweden international Hjalmar Ekdal. Both centre-halves arrived at Turf Moor earlier this month, from Sint Triuden and Djurgarden respectively.
