- EXCLUSIVE from Graeme Bailey
Burnley are closing in on appointing their new manager having seen Vincent Kompany leave the club for a move to Bayern Munich this summer.
The Clarets suffered relegation from the Premier League and are now preparing for life back in the Championship.
Burnley saw boss Vincent Kompany leave the club for a huge move to Bayern Munich earlier in the summer, leaving them with a void to fill.
The Clarets have held talks with a number of different candidates, but the likes of Frank Lampard and Ruud van Nistelrooy have turned down the chance to succeed Kompany.
Burnley must turn elsewhere and appear to be focusing on a Euro 2024 boss.

Burnley move for Denmark boss Kasper Hjulmand
HITC understands that Burnley are hoping to finalise a deal for Denmark head coach Kasper Hjulmand to take charge at Turf Moor.
Denmark were knocked out of Euro 2024 by Germany, losing 2-0 in the last 16 of the competition.
The Danes progressed from England’s group to reach the knockout stages but were knocked out by the hosts.
Now, HITC understands that Burnley are set to succeed in their search for a new boss with Hjulmand.
HITC has been told that Burnley have made Hjulmand an offer and they hope he will accept the deal this week.
Who is Kasper Hjulmand?
Hjulmand was a defender in his playing days, featuring as a lower league player in Denmark and even having a spell at the University of North Florida in the United States college system.
Injuries forced Hjulmand to retire at just 26 and he immediately moved into coaching.
Hjulmand coached in the Lyngby ranks from 1998 to 2005 before stepping up to become first-team boss in 2006.
Despite winning the second-tier title in 2007, Hjulmand departed Lyngby in 2008, paving the way for him to become assistant boss with Nordsjaelland.
Hjulmand stepped up to become boss in 2011 and that is where Hjulmand started to make strides.
A Superliga title in his first season saw Hjulmand become a Champions League boss, leading Nordsjaelland into Europe’s top competition in 2012.
Bundesliga side Mainz came calling in 2014 but Hjulmand lasted less than a year after just five wins in 24 games.
Nordsjaelland handed Hjulmand a return to Denmark in 2016 and despite leaving by mutual consent in 2019, Denmark appointed him as Age Hareide’s replacement.
Hjulmand guided Denmark to the semi-finals of Euro 2020 but crashed out in the World Cup group stages, scoring just once in three games.
Hjulmand has won 60% of his games as Denmark boss but the defeat to Germany could prove to be his final game in charge with Burnley pushing for a deal.
