Rangers forward Kai Kennedy completed a season-long loan move to Dunfermline Athletic yesterday – and the news prompted a salty reaction from West Ham fans who were excited by the prospect of the Ibrox teen becoming a Hammer.
Rather than the East End of London, Kennedy is off to the East End of Dunfermline despite reports the Premier League side had made an offer in excess of £1million for the Rangers youngster.
Kennedy spent last season on loan with Inverness CT and then Raith Rovers, earning rave reviews for his performances in the Championship, leading to some Rangers fans wanting him to be given a first-team chance at Ibrox this season.
However, Steven Gerrard and his coaching staff have opted to let the teen go back out on loan and the Pars have ended a lengthy pursuit of Kennedy by finally landing his services.
Their interest in the Scotland youth international extends back before the appointment of Peter Grant as the club’s manager over the summer and Kennedy will likely be a vital part of Dunfermline’s promotion push this season.
West Ham reportedly had two bids rejected for Kennedy, and their failure to land the precocious Rangers talent has left them furious at the Hammers hierarchy.
Here are some of the comments from unhappy West Ham fans after missing out on the Rangers teen:
