Liverpool fans seem keen to offload Divock Origi to Newcastle United amid rumours of the Magpies’ interest.
Divock Origi to Newcastle?
The Northern Echo suggest that Origi is very much on Newcastle’s radar ahead of the January transfer window.
Eddie Howe does have a history of being Liverpool’s fringe players, although he has only had mixed success.
Dominic Solanke and Jordon Ibe both joined Bournemouth for sizeable fees, but neither managed to cut it in the Premier League.
Harry Wilson did join Howe on loan though, and he performed far better.
It seems that the new Newcastle boss could now return to Anfield to attempt to land one of their fringe players in Origi.
And Liverpool supporters seemingly would be happy to let Newcastle sign the Belgian international.
Is there a problem?
Despite Liverpool fans being happy to offload Origi, the club may be less so.
The Northern Echo claims Jurgen Klopp’s men are reluctant to part ways with Origi as he may be needed in the new year.
Liverpool are set to lose Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane as they represent their countries at the African Cup of Nations.
That means that Liverpool’s forward numbers could be severely depleted, which could provide Origi with a chance to showcase his talents.
Origi has three goals in seven games this season, which is a credible record for a player with such little game time.
If he was to join Newcastle he would be in competition with Callum Wilson for a place up-top.
