Newcastle United midfielder Bruno Guimaraes has responded to a Lyon fan on Twitter after the contrasting results of the two sides.

On Thursday evening, Eddie Howe’s Newcastle lost 1-0 to Everton away from home at Goodison Park in the Premier League.

Former Arsenal winger Alex Iwobi scored for the Toffees late in the game.

Guimaraes, who joined Lyon from Newcastle in the January transfer window, played well.

Lyon were also in action on Thursday evening.

The French club took on FC Porto in the second leg of the Europa League Round of 16 tie.

Lyon beat Porto 2-1 on aggregate.

Lyon are doing well in the Europa League at the moment and could go on to win the competition this season.

Newcastle have been getting positive results under head coach Eddie Howe, and it is very likely that they will not get relegated from the Premier League at the end of the season.

The Magpies have the richest owners in club football in Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF), and in the coming years, Newcastle could also play in the Europa League and the Champions League, just like Lyon do.
