Brighton & Hove Albion are interested in signing Ajax attacker Mohammed Kudus this summer.
According to the Daily Mail, Brighton would like to sign Ghanaian ace Mohammed Kudus in this transfer window. However, the Seagulls may well face competition from Arsenal for the £40 million-rated player.
Brighton have money to spend the summer. The sale of Alexis Mac Allister to Liverpool has already topped up the coffers, and Moises Caicedo will bring in a large sum if his mooted exit is finalised. Roberto De Zerbi and the club’s recruitment team will have some big decisions to make when it comes to how they reinvest these funds in the squad.
The fact that they want to bring Kudus to the Amex Stadium suggests the club have some serious ambitions.
Who is Mohammed Kudus?
Kudus has been with Ajax since 2020, when he joined from Danish outfit Nordsjælland. The 22-year-old has since made 84 appearances for the Amsterdam giants, racking up 23 goals and 11 assists. The 24-cap Ghana international was in particularly fine form last season, as he recorded 11 goals in the Eredivisie.
Former Ajax boss, and current Manchester United manager, Erik Ten Hag has heaped praise on Kudus in the past. As quoted by Voetbal Primeur, the Dutch coach described Kudus as having “incredible potential.”
Kudus’ end-product will make him appeal to De Zerbi, as will his versatility. The player is capable of playing anywhere across the front line and can even do a job in central midfield if required. His signing would represent a real coup for the Seagulls if they can get a deal over the line.
