Brighton and Hove Albion midfielder Moises Caicedo has said that he could have joined Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal in the January transfer window.
Caicedo has told The Telegraph that he really wanted to leave Brighton for Premier League rivals Arsenal in the middle of the season.
The Telegraph have reported that the Gunners’ bids of £60 million and £70 million were turned down by Brighton.
The 21-year-old midfielder subsequently signed a new deal with the Seagulls.
Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano reported on Twitter in March that Arsenal are “still keen” on the Ecuador international midfielder.
Brighton and Hove Albion ace Moises Caicedo on Arsenal interest
The midfielder said: “I’d seen a lot of Arsenal before knowing that there was a possibility of me signing for them.
“I watched them and I liked them because they have very young, talented players and some stars but they always have that mindset of wanting more.”

HITC Verdict: Summer transfer could happen
In our view, Arsenal could be able to sign Moises Caicedo from Premier League rivals Brighton and Hove Albion in the summer transfer window.
Yes, the youngster has just signed a new contract, but if Arsenal win the Premier League title this season and make a move for him again in the summer transfer window, then a deal could well happen.
Having sold Leandro Trossard to Arsenal in the January transfer window, it was always unlikely that the Seagulls were going to sell another of their best players in the middle of the season.
However, a transfer in the summer of 2023 is very much possible.
