Tino Livramento is expected to leave Southampton this summer after the south coast club’s relegation from the top flight.

According to the Daily Mail, there is plenty of interest in Tino Livramento. Both Chelsea and Newcastle United are willing to take him on to keep him in the Premier League. However, the full back is keen to make a move to a club where he stands a strong chance of getting regular game time.

A fairly dire Southampton squad could have greatly done with Livramento’s influence last season. Unfortunately for the Saints, the full-back was sidelined for the vast majority of the season with an ACL injury. Due to this, he didn’t feature until the final two games of the season, by which point the south coast club’s fate was sealed.

However, his impressive form from the previous campaign has not been forgotten. Former Southampton boss Ralph Hasenhuttl is full of praise for the England under-21 international, saying “he is a serious player. He’s well developed,” as quoted by Chronicle Live.

Livramento now needs to secure a move to stay at the top level where he can continue his development. Brighton would be wise to offer him the chance to do just that.

Why Brighton should sign Livramento

The Seagulls will have money to spend this summer following Moises Caicedo’s £100 million move to Chelsea, if it goes through as expected. Roberto De Zerbi ought to use those funds to do what the Seagulls do best – buying talented youngsters and developing them into stars.

Livramento is a progressive, attack-minded defender who is perfect for Brighton’s style of play. He would thrive in De Zerbi’s system.

Livramento would likely get plenty of minutes competing with Joel Veltman and Tariq Lamptey. The 21-year-old would bring a different dimension to the club’s rearguard and can even operate in a more advanced role if required. He would certainly represent a welcome and exciting addition to the ranks at the Amex Stadium.
