HITC understands that Brighton have rejected a new offer from Stuttgart for Deniz Undav.

The Bundesliga side are keen to sign the 28-year-old on a permanent basis after an outstanding loan stint with them last season.

Undav scored 19 goals and assisted 10 times for Stuttgart as he helped fire them to Champions League qualification and a second-place finish in the Bundesliga.

He received high praise from Stuttgart boss Sebastian Hoeness, who branded him an “absolute top player”.

Stuttgart submitted a club record bid of €30million (£25million) for Undav but Brighton have rejected the offer and informed them that he is not for sale.

Stuttgart had the option to buy Undav after his loan spell, but Brighton also included a buy-back clause meaning they always held the upper hand.

HITC understands that Stuttgart have now accepted that Undav will be in England next season.

Fabian Hurzeler blocks Deniz Undav sale

Brighton have rebuffed all offers for Undav this season with new manager Fabian Hurzeler a huge admirer of the German forward.

HITC understands that Hurzeler made it clear to the Brighton hierarchy that he did not want Undav to be sold this summer.

As a result, Brighton informed all interested parties that they will not be parting ways with Undav.

It is understood that there was also interest in his signature from Premier League clubs, but Brighton once again reiterated that he is not for sale.

Deniz Undav at Brighton next season

Hurzeler clearly has plans for Undav at the Amex Stadium next season – the German could lead the line in a new-look Brighton attack.

The Seagulls have already completed deals for wingers Ibrahim Osman and Yankuba Minteh, with the former Newcastle United player hitting the ground running in pre-season.

If Undav can carry his momentum from Germany into the new season then Brighton could be a force to reckon with under their young manager.
