- EXCLUSIVE from Graeme Bailey
HITC understands that Brighton & Hove Albion have turned down an offer from a European giant for one of their players.
Brighton & Hove Albion have been busy in the transfer market this summer under new manager Fabian Hurzeler, who replaced Roberto De Zerbi.
Brighton completed the signing of Feyenoord’s Mats Wieffer, despite interest from Liverpool earlier this month.
Despite this signing, which will surely go down as one of the most astute of the summer window so far, the club could lose key midfielders as a result.

Brighton reject offer for sale of Billy Gilmour
Sources have told HITC that Brighton have rejected a bid from Napoli for Scottish international midfielder Billy Gilmour.
Gilmour, who had to work extremely hard to establish himself in the Seagulls midfield under de Zerbi before he left this summer, joined the club from Chelsea back in the summer of 2022.
Last season for Brighton, Gilmour made 30 Premier League appearances for the Seagulls with the Scotsman providing one assist for the club in these appearances.
It is our understanding that Antonio Conte’s Napoli have made an offer for the midfielder of around £8 million. HITC is told that Brighton are ready to let him leave for the right offer.
Conte worked with Gilmour during the Italian’s time at Chelsea and it seems he may not be the only former Chelsea player heading to Naples.
HITC reported that Antonio Conte is keen on reuniting with Chelsea forward Lukaku and the feeling is understood to be mutual.
How much Brighton would demand for Gilmour
Despite, Brighton turning down Napoli’s offer for Gilmour, HITC understands the club are prepared to allow the Scottish midfielder to leave the AMEX Stadium this summer.
Brighton sources claim they want £20million but it is believed a deal could be done at around £15million.
According to the BBC, Gilmour completed his move to the South Coast club for a fee in the region of £7.5 million, with add-ons potentially taking the deal to £10 million.
So if the Seagulls did get the £15-£20 million fee they want for the midfielder, they would make a profit.
Gilmour made a name for himself at Chelsea under Frank Lampard and was labelled as ‘incredible‘ but it appears his time in the Premier League is coming to an end.
