Reports suggest Ruben Amorim sees a certain Premier League player as a strong fit for his tactical plans at Manchester United, and a potential price tag has now come to light.

The 40-year-old United manager has been backed by Ineos in the summer transfer window, giving him added support heading into the new season.

In June, Matheus Cunha made the move from Wolves to Man United, followed by Paraguayan prospect Diego Leon joining the club in July.

This summer saw Ruben Amorim closely follow the Red Devils’ pursuit of Bryan Mbeumo before they secured his signature ahead of their pre-season tour in the US.

The Portuguese coach also welcomed a new striker to Old Trafford this summer, with Benjamin Sesko arriving ahead of Newcastle’s interest.

However, the ex-Sporting CP boss is expected to receive more reinforcements by the end of the transfer window. Now, the midfield is seen as a priority.

Carlos Baleba has been mentioned as a possible target for Man United, who are still looking to add both a midfielder and a goalkeeper during the summer window.

The Cameroon international has stepped into the role previously held by Moises Caicedo at Brighton and has caught attention with his performances since joining in 2023.

According to CaughtOffside, United have been keeping a close eye on Baleba’s situation, and he’s now drawing interest from multiple clubs across the Premier League.

The report also says that Ruben Amorim has specifically requested Baleba as a ‘priority target’ for United this summer, viewing him as an ideal fit for what he wants to build at Old Trafford.

Even with Manchester United showing strong interest, Brighton are expected to resist any approaches for Carlos Baleba during this transfer window.

The Seagulls are committed to keeping the Cameroon international at the Amex Stadium for at least one more season, with his contract running until 2028.

CaughtOffside reports Brighton put a €60-70m price tag on their former Lille midfielder, even though they are not keen on selling.

The outlet also noted that United are not alone in their pursuit, with Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester City, Newcastle and Tottenham all reportedly in the mix.
