As you may have heard, Newcastle have agreed a £59m deal to sign Alexander Isak from Real Sociedad – a deal we think could now see Joao Pedro join Everton.

What’s the story?

Well, it looked as if Pedro was a Newcastle player just a matter of days ago – the reliable Fabrizio Romano even gave the £30m deal his trademark “here we go” as Watford looked set to lose their Brazilian wonderkid to the Magpies.

Shortly after the Italian journalist’s confirmation, however, some sources claimed that Everton would attempt a late hijack.

Now, Newcastle are closing in on the club-record signing of Isak, which suggests to us that Frank Lampard has been successful in his attempts to hijack Pedro’s move to St James’ Park.

With Callum Wilson and Chris Wood already at Newcastle, we doubt Eddie Howe will be signing both Isak and Pedro, so the sudden news of the Sweden international heading to Tyneside should have Everton fans feeling very intrigued.

Everton’s interest in the South American comes after he scored three Premier League goals in 28 appearances last season, as the Hornets suffered relegation to the Championship.

Newcastle deal for Isak won’t just interest Everton

We believe Everton are the ones who have forced Newcastle into a move for Isak, mainly because the Toffees were namedropped as the side planning to hijack their deal for Pedro.

However, Everton aren’t the only side interested in the Watford No.10 this summer.

Leeds, Leicester, Wolves and Nottingham Forest are also looking at Pedro, so in truth, any of these sides could have forced Newcastle into making their £59m move for Isak.

Whatever happens, the final week of the transfer window is shaping up to be a hectic period, and we expect both the Magpies and the Toffees to be very busy indeed – keep an eye on both clubs as we near the September 1st deadline.
