Leeds United and Wolverhampton Wanderers’ reported quest to sign Douglas Costa is now over… officially.
In March, Calciomercato reported interest from Leeds in signing Costa from Juventus in the summer transfer window.
The report in the Italian news outlet claimed that Leeds head coach Marcelo Bielsa loves the technical qualities of the Brazil international winger and would love to sign him for the Premier League club, as reported by HITC Sport.
CM reported in April interest from Wolves in the 30-year-old former Bayern Munich star.
Costa may not be force he was a few years ago, but the Brazilian is only 30 and still has a few good years left in him.
Leeds and Wolves are ambitious clubs, and someone like Costa, who has won league titles in Ukraine, Germany and Italy, would make them stronger and help them get to the next level.
However, both Leeds and Wolves have missed out on Costa.
That’s because the winger is going back to Brazil.
Juventus have announced on their official website that Cota has signed for Gremio on “a free loan”.
The winger will stay at Gremio until June 30, 2022.
Leeds and Wolves will now have to look elsewhere for a winger.
