Leeds United boss Marcelo Bielsa is a big fan of Douglas Costa with Juventus willing to sell their Bayern Munich loanee for a bargain fee of around £9 million, according to Calciomercato.

If you are a talented winger looking to get your career back on track while playing regular first-team football, it is probably not the best idea to join the club with maybe the best collection of wide men anywhere in European football.

Unsurprisingly, Costa has found opportunities hard to come by during a second spell at Bayern.

With Kingsley Coman, Serge Gnabry and Leroy Sane all ahead of him in the pecking order, a man who tasted Bundesliga glory under Pep Guardiola in 2015 has been handed just three starts by Hansi Flick.

It was hardly a revelation when Kicker, reporting a few weeks ago, claimed that Bayern have no interest in turning Costa’s season-long loan deal into a permanent transfer at the end of this season.

And with Juventus moving on from a man they paid £37 million for in 2018, the former Shakhtar Donetsk star is stuck between a rock and a hard place; out of favour at his parent club and unwanted by his temporary one.

So if Leeds are serious about bringing a truly elite-level attacker to Elland Road – a man who was arguably Europe’s best out-and-out winger during his first spell at Bayern – they will never have a better chance than this.

Calciomercato reports that Juventus are willing to sell Costa for a vastly reduced fee of just £9 million.

Bielsa, meanwhile, is a huge fan of the 30-year-old’s technical abilities with the report adding that things could accelerate in the next few weeks.

“Douglas Costa is a quality player who is hard to find because of the way he can dribble,” Pep Guardiola said during their time together in Germany.
