Tony Cascarino has shared that he is glad that David Moyes won’t be leaving West Ham United amid the ‘bonkers’ rumours and how he is a ‘loyal’ guy following those Celtic links.

When it comes to the Premier League, it has been a season of struggle for West Ham, who were fighting for relegation towards the back end of the 22/23 season.

But that Europa Conference League win, the club’s first major trophy in 43 years, certainly has lifted the spirits and Cascarino stated that it would have been the wrong call to let David Moyes go, as he told talkSPORT.

But whilst all that noise has been going on around the Scotsman, it has been suggested that he is on Celtic’s radar, after Ange Postecoglou joined Tottenham.

Perhaps one day, Moyes will stand in that Parkhead dugout, but for now, it seems as though he is going to stay put at the London Stadium.

For former Republic of Ireland striker Cascarino, he is delighted with that call, as he also reacted to those Celtic links.

“Don’t get me going, I think it would have been bonkers to think otherwise,” said Cascarino. “You have had an owner in the last few days who has just said ‘Rice will be going’, so would you really consider getting rid of the manager?!

“You think of the effect it would have on the group. The relationship he has got with so many players. I would have thought it would have been bonkers to say ‘no, we won this trophy’.

“Yes, it has been tricky. But West Ham have had a number of tricky seasons in the last few years.

“He has been a loyal guy (re Celtic links). You think of his career. You think of how he went from Preston to Everton and stayed there a long time. He always wanted to improve himself as a manager. He goes abroad. Back to Sunderland. He left the job and parted company. Apparently, he was owed money. He is that type of guy. He is going to be loyal to West Ham.”

Rodgers to return to Celtic?

Unless there is some serious twist and turns, Moyes isn’t going to be Celtic’s next manager, but could it be a certain Brendan Rodgers?

Back in April, when he left his role at Leicester City, very, very few would have predicted the Northern Irishman to be making a return to Parkhead.

Well, with Celtic looking for that new manager, it has been suggested that Rodgers could return and is close to doing just that in an extraordinary turn of events.
