Jamie O’Hara says it is ‘bold’ from Daniel Levy if he has indeed decided to keep Harry Kane at Tottenham Hotspur beyond this summer and risk losing him for nothing in 12 months.

The 29-year-old, if he doesn’t leave Tottenham this summer, can sign a pre-contract agreement with a foreign club in January or join any team he wishes for nothing in 2024.

But O’Hara questioned if Daniel Levy thinks he might be able to get Harry Kane to sign on the dotted line during the 2023/24 Premier League campaign and perhaps ‘sneak a couple of years’ on his contract, as he questioned on talkSPORT.

Once again, Spurs are under new guidance, this time it’s Celtic’s-Treble winning coach Ange Postecoglou hoping to prove his worth.

The one big positive from this appointment is that Kane no longer will remain anonymous in games, before popping up with a goal, it will be all-action in the final third now because this is the first real attacking coach Levy has brought in since Mauricio Pochettino.

Whether the Greek-born Australian can have the same type of impact remains to be seen, as O’Hara thinks it’s ‘good news’ if Kane stays.

“I think it’s a bold move from Daniel Levy to keep Harry Kane,” said O’Hara.

“If he does say ‘no, we aren’t selling him. We are keeping him’, then maybe he is thinking ‘if we do something special next season’, in terms of getting Champions League football again. Potentially winning a trophy. Playing some great football under Postecoglou, then maybe he thinks he might be able to sneak another couple of years out of him in a contract or something.

“Unless Harry Kane sits there, rolls the dice, plays another season and then goes to Real Madrid on a free.

“But it’s good news for us (on Kane possibly staying this summer).”

Bayern calling?

It wouldn’t surprise fans that Levy probably doesn’t want to sell to another English club and will do everything he can to avoid any of their advances.

Luckily for Spurs, the team that seemingly needs their ‘world class’ star the most, Erik ten Hag’s Manchester United, aren’t exactly in a place to splash the cash given all this talk about a takeover.

But perhaps Bayern Munich are calling? Some interesting news has dropped recently and that’s the German club getting the hint from Kane that he would be willing to join and now they are looking at bringing him in.
