Even Blackburn Rovers’ official Twitter account was celebrating as Harvey Elliott was spotted back in Liverpool training yesterday.

What’s the story?

Liverpool loaned Elliott to Blackburn last season, and he was a huge hit at Ewood Park.

His form for the Championship side led to Jurgen Klopp taking a close look at the youngster over pre-season.

Elliott then impressed the Liverpool boss so much that he was included in the Reds’ starting line-up and the start of the term.

The teenager certainly took his chance and looked to be cementing his place in Liverpool’s team when injury struck.

It came at the worst possible time for the youngster, but his attitude to being ruled out has been very positive.

Elliott has consistently posted on Instagram about his recovery from an ankle issue, and he seems to be making it back ahead of schedule.

There were real fears that Elliott could miss the bulk of the season when he picked up the issue.

However, he was spotted back in Liverpool training yesterday, much to the delight of everyone at Anfield.

And even those at Blackburn were keen to send an encouraging message to the Reds youngster.

Back in contention?

With Elliott now back running there is hope that he could return in the coming weeks.

That could be a big boost to Liverpool, who have actually missed Elliott during his time on the sidelines.

The Reds could do with his creativity in their midfield, and when he is back fit, he will stand a real chance of playing regularly again for Klopp’s side, as nobody in midfield has really stepped up to take his spot.

Liverpool are actually scheduled to take on Arsenal this weekend, but that game may come too soon for the youngster at this stage of his recovery.
