Theo Walcott has made a comment about Everton when talking about the relegation battle he finds himself in at Southampton.
What’s the story?
Well, the 33-year-old made 85 appearances for Everton before returning to Southampton on a free transfer back in May 2021, scoring 11 goals while also providing nine assists.
Walcott currently finds himself embroiled in a relegation battle with the Saints, and speaking to the Daily Mail, he compared the situation to his close encounters with the Championship at Goodison Park.
The England international said: “This might retire me! At Everton we had scenarios like this but this is a bit more intense.”
Everton were forced to enlist the help of Sam Allardyce back in the 2017/18 campaign when it seemed as if they were heading for the Championship under Ronald Koeman.

It was the 68-year-old who brought Walcott to Merseyside in a £20m deal from Arsenal, and the Toffees eventually finished in the comfortable position of eighth in the Premier League.
Now, the experienced forward could use his experience of fighting relegation at Everton to help Southampton.
Where Walcott & Southampton sit in comparison to Everton
In truth, both Everton and Southampton could suffer relegation this season.
As things stand, the Toffees and the Saints find themselves in the relegation zone along with Bournemouth.
Everton sit 18th with 22 points to their name, while Southampton languish in 19th place with 21 points.
However, Ruben Selles has a game in hand over Sean Dyche, so the pair could swap places if Southampton pick up three points in that clash – it really is tight at the bottom of the Premier League.
Whatever happens, Walcott has plenty of experience to help his teammates out on the south coast, and he could use it to send Everton to the Championship for the first time in their history.
