Jermain Defoe says Danny Ings is a ‘big signing’ for David Moyes’ West Ham United following his January transfer from Aston Villa.

The former West Ham striker, who is now a coach at Tottenham, added that Ings is someone he ‘enjoys’ watching, as the 30-year-old completes the Claret & Blue treble.

That’s Burnley, Villa and now the Hammers Ings has repped in his career, but within days of walking into the London Stadium, he is already on the sidelines.

Following his debut during West Ham’s crucial 2-0 win over Everton on Saturday, Ings picked up a minor knee injury which is set to keep him out of action for several weeks, as reported by the Guardian.

That shouldn’t worry West Ham fans too much because, during his days at Villa, he hardly had any issues with injury. Plus, the team have just come off a win and they don’t play in the Premier League until the start of next month.

Either way, the former Liverpool player is someone Defoe greatly admires and is a big fan of, as he told MatchDay Extra on Premier League Productions (22/01/23 at 9:50 pm).

“Danny Ings, a big signing,” said Defoe. “He is someone I have enjoyed watching. He is someone that will guarantee you goals.

“He is a willing runner. Sharp. Very, very good signing.”

INGS ALREADY WORKING HIS MAGIC

That performance from Michail Antonio against Everton is proof that Ings’ arrival has already worked its magic in East London.

Prior to the Englishman’s arrival, Antonio spoke about his future at the club, where he is in the pecking order at West Ham amid suggestions that David Moyes is looking to bring a striker in.

Well, the Jamaica international produced his best performance of the season, and if he keeps it up, then Ings won’t be starting games any time soon.
