Leeds United talent Crysencio Summerville is still reportedly a top target for Hamburg SV heading into the summer, with the German club missing out on the youngster in January.

According to the Hamburger Morgenpost, the 2. Bundesliga side remain hot on the scent for the Dutchman’s signature, with Summerville almost leaving Leeds at the start of the year for a new adventure in Germany.

A player signed by Marcelo Bielsa, Summerville has seen little football since arriving from the Netherlands in 2020, with the 20-year-old Dutch youth international playing just eight first-team matches for Leeds, making only one start.

Although Jesse Marsch has already indicated that he is a big fan of the winger, the American coach is yet to give Summerville a single minute since replacing Bielsa at Elland Road, and now the attacker could depart Leeds for good in the summer for Hamburg.

The second-tier German giants were eager to sign Summerville in January, yet despite the forward being open to leaving on loan, a transfer never materialised as Bielsa opted to keep the youngster in Yorkshire for the remainder of the season.

And in hindsight, the decision has proven to been a poor one from the former Leeds coach, with Summerville’s development slacking due to a lack of minutes, and with Hamburg again interested, the forward could decide to leave for good at the end of the season.

Summerville would be right to quit Leeds for Hamburg move

Moving to Germany and a huge club like Hamburg would be a smart move from Summerville, who has seen his progress as a top winger regress in recent months due to no first-team football, and leaving Leeds could be for the best.

Indeed, Summerville has the potential to be a force in a top-flight league, yet with Leeds continuing to not play him, the forward is much better off leaving Elland Road and heading east to Germany where he could play a starring role for Hamburg.
