The PSG president has claimed that the reported Liverpool target will remain at the club and ‘we will never sell him’ or allow him to ‘leave on a free’, as he told L’Equipe.
The highly sought-after 22-year-old has a contract in Paris until the summer of 2022, with the likes of Real Madrid and Liverpool trying to sniff around for his signature.
It could be argued that Mbappe is the world’s best player, and if he’s not today, then many think that will be his mantel once the likes of Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo retire.
Therefore, it isn’t a surprise that PSG are so hell-bent on keeping their goalscoring speedster.
There has been a lot of talk about Liverpool possibly needing to refresh their squad this summer, especially in the forward areas.
And adding a man of Mbappe’s qualities to their ranks would no doubt elevate them after an injury-hit campaign this season.
Either way, Liverpool fans want to see Mbappe leave PSG because they feel there are bigger ponds he can swim in.
PSG, just like Manchester City, have splashed a lot of cash to get to the top of French football, but one trophy eludes them, and that’s the Champions League.
What makes matters worse for the mega-rich club is that they lost out on the Ligue 1 title to Lille this season, so the pressure will seriously be on Mauricio Pochettino if they slip up next term.
