Rangers and Celtic supporters have vivid memories of one of the most hotly-debated matches Scottish football has seen

Scottish football rarely has any trouble generating controversy, but even by normal standards the fallout from the Old Firm derby that took place on March 2, 2011 was extraordinary.

By the time players had left the field after Celtic’s 1-0 win over their rivals in the Scottish Cup fifth-round replay, Rangers had seen Steven Whittaker, Madjid Bougherra and El Hadji Diouf sent off.

That was far from the end of the drama, however, as Celtic boss Neil Lennon and Rangers assistant Ally McCoist squared up to each other on the touchline.

Those unsavoury scenes triggered an outbreak of hysteria among pundits and politicians, eventually resulting in the deeply unpopular Offensive Behaviour at Football and Threatening Communications (Scotland) Act 2012.

With a decade’s worth of perspective, fans are now able to look back on the fallout with a degree of sobriety.

Here’s what supporters have been saying on the 10th anniversary of Scottish football’s ‘Shame Game’.
