The Tottenham Hotspur manager is considered to be one of the best in his field.
Ex-Spurs ace Dimitar Berbatov sat down for an exclusive interview with the Sun, and raved about the impact that Mauricio Pochettino has had on his former club, since taking over way back in May 2014.
Tottenham have enjoyed a relatively successful two-year period, with the Argentine drawing plaudits from far and wide for the manner in which he sets his youthful and energetic side up to play.
The Lilywhites suffered a blow to their Premier League title aspirations yesterday, with a 2-0 defeat to bitter rivals Arsenal in the North London Derby, and now sit 11 points adrift of league leaders Manchester City.
There is still a long way to go, however, and if anyone is equipped to galvanise a beleaguered group of players, it’s Pochettino.
Berbatov, who scored 46 goals for Spurs during a two-year spell with the club, shared what the players have told him about the Argentine, when speaking exclusively to the Sun:
“They are building a great stadium, they have a great squad, a great coach, the training ground is fantastic. They have everything to be a great team. Footballers speak with each other constantly and everybody is telling me Pochettino is a great manager. A great man-manager.”
Next up for Pochettino and Tottenham is a trip to Germany to take on Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League on Tuesday night, before they resume their Premier League duties with a home game against West Brom the following Saturday.
And nothing less than a pair of wins will do, if they are to immediately put yesterday’s disappointment behind them.
