Tottenham Hotspur were out-fought and out-classed by Arsenal in the North London Derby today.
Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino spoke to reporters in the aftermath of his side’s bitterly disappointing loss to the Gunners today, and responded to a question asking him if Harry Kane and Dele Alli were actually fit to start the game, as quoted by Sky Sports.
The England international duo were clearly a along way off the pace, having both missed the last two weeks with knocks, and questions will now be asked of Pochettino, and the wisdom behind his decision to play two players who were seemingly such a long way off full fitness.
Arsene Wenger’s side are now just one point adrift of their bitter rivals in the Premier League table following their victory today, but it was made far more comfortable than it should have been, with the Tottenham team visibly carrying two passengers in Kane and Alli.
The 24-year-old striker never threatened the Gunners’ goal, whilst the 21-year-old midfield ace failed to put in a shift at either end of the pitch.

Pochettino spoke to reporters following his side’s painfully inadequate display at the Emirates, and responded when asked if Spurs’ star duo were ready and fit to play, as quoted by Sky Sports:
“Yes, they were ok to play, of course after 2-0 with 15 minutes left, we put on Llorente and Son who were both fresh.”
Losing against their fierce rivals will be a major body blow to the Argentine’s side, of that there is no doubt.
Tottenham will have to put today’s result behind them as quickly as possible, however, if they are to have any chance whatsoever of featuring in this season’s title race.
