French publication L’Equipe has credited Montpellier with interest in signing 27-year-old midfielder (click here to read more), who joined Newcastle from Bordeaux in January 2016 for a transfer fee reported by The Daily Mail to be worth £4.5 million.
Newcastle manager Benitez has suggested that left-back Haidara and midfielder Saivet could stay at St. James’ Park.
“It is very difficult that they will leave,” Benitez told The Chronicle about Haidara and Saivet.
Newcastle are 15th in the Premier League table at the moment with 23 points from 24 matches, just a point above the relegation zone.
The Magpies will return to action on Wednesday evening when they take on Burnley at St. James’ Park in the Premier League.
