CBS Sports reporter Ben Jacobs has told Give Me Sport that Shakhtar Donetsk wonderkid and Leeds target Mykhaylo Mudryk has told him he would find it hard to say no to a January move – with his preference being an Arsenal move.

Mudryk, 21, has emerged as a transfer target for a number of Premier League clubs ahead of January. The Ukraine international has been in stunning form of late, having joined the Ukraine champions in the 2021 January window.

His country has been in turmoil as they remain at war with Russia. It has seen Ukraine football limited in the past 12 months, but playing 33 times – Mudryk has had a hand in 19 goals. This season, he is in sparkling form for Shakhtar.

Fabrizio Romano said recently that Arsenal want to sign Mudryk. iNews claim he is rated at £50million, while 90Min say Leeds have also shown interest. Now, Jacobs says Mudryk would be open to a move – and he is in favour of Arsenal.

“I think he made it clear to me that he will assess his future in January and it would be hard to say no to top clubs. He particularly referenced Arsenal,” Jacobs told GMS, having spoken to Mudryk during an interview recently.

What a signing Mudryk would be, for any Premier League side. Even for the likes of Manchester City or Liverpool, he would be a brilliant option to bring off the bench. For Arsenal, he has the ability to rival Gabriel Martinelli on the left.

Able to play on either flank but preferring to play from the left, Mudryk is a talent given his age. Arsenal need more options out wide – with Emile Smith-Rowe undergoing surgery and Nicolas Pepe joining French side Nice on loan.

Marquinhos is still a rookie and if either Martinelli or Bukayo Saka suffer an injury, they need another option. Mudryk has the ability to be that man, if Arsenal choose to sign him. He has already overtaken the likes of Leeds.
