Speaking on his YouTube channel, Goal’s Arsenal correspondent Charles Watts has been discussing Fabio Vieira ahead of his reported move to the Gunners.
Arsenal are reportedly on the verge of signing the Portuguese midfielder, and there is a real sense of intrigue around this signing.
Indeed, many Arsenal fans would be forgiven for not knowing much about Vieira. After all, he’s only recently cemented himself as a starter at Porto.
Watts has done some digging, and he’s spoken to someone who works for Porto’s biggest rivals, Benfica, and they’ve told him that Arsenal should be very excited about Vieira.
What’s been said?
Watts spoke about Vieira.
“I spoke to a couple of guys over in Portugal that I really respect, someone who works for Benfica who used to be their academy manager, and I spoke to him, and he was saying to be very excited about him and that he’s a very good player. Of course, he’s coming from Porto and not Benfica, but they’ve watched him extensively over the course of the last season,” Watts said.

Exciting
A talented young attacking midfielder arriving from Portugal is always exciting, but if your biggest rivals rate you as a player then you must be doing something right.
Vieira looks like a star in the making. He ripped the U21 Euros to shreds last year, while he’s made a serious mark in the league for Porto this season.
At the age of just 22, he has so much room to improve and grow, and with the right coaching, he could become a superstar at Arsenal.
