Garth Crooks has praised Tottenham Hotspur central defender Eric Dier on BBC Sport for his performance against Arsenal at the weekend.
The former Tottenham forward has included Dier in his Premier League Team of the Week for BBC Sport.
Crooks has outlined how much the England international, who can also operate as a midfielder, has improved since a controversial incident in March.
Back in March, after the FA Cup match against Norwich City at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, the 26-year-old had to be held back after climbing into the stand to comfort a fan who had taken issues with a family member, as reported by The Guardian.
Crooks wrote on BBC Sport: “The first ball into the box by Arsenal was a real tester but the header from Eric Dier was emphatic and so was the rest of his performance.
“This is the third consecutive week the Tottenham defender has made my team of the week and each time his selection comes with a clean sheet. This defender is tailor-made for Jose Mourinho. No frills, no fuss and always ready for the battle.
“The England international has come a long way since the night in March that Spurs lost at home to Norwich in the FA Cup and Dier was walking up steps to get to a fan who had upset his brother. Let’s hope the next time he’s walking up steps it’s to collect the Premier League title.”

Big player for Tottenham Hotspur
Dier was a rock at the back against Arsenal, as Tottenham won the North London derby 2-0 at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
The 26-year-old is playing in his favoured centre-back position and is doing extremely well, and for Spurs to win the Premier League title this season, he will have to be on top form.
Meanwhile, former Tottenham star Graham Roberts has praised right-back Serge Aurier on Twitter for his performances so far this season.
