Gary Neville raved about Tottenham Hotspur central defender Eric Dier on Sky Sports Football (6:13pm, December 6, 2020).
The former Manchester United defender, who now works as a pundit for Sky Sports, was on co-commentary duty on Sky Sports during Tottenham’s 2-0 win against Arsenal in the North London derby this past Sunday evening.
In the final stages of the game at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, Neville spoke highly of Dier, who can also operate as a midfielder but has been playing as a centre-back this season.
Neville said about Dier in the 83rd minute of the match on Sky Sports Football (6:13pm, December 6, 2020): “He’s stepping up. He’s getting more confident by the week.
“I think he called it at the start of the season. ‘I want to play centre-back. I’ve had enough of being shifted around’.
“He’s got pace, he’s a good leader. Good character, good on the ball. He’s being helped by the system, let’s be clear.”
Important player for Tottenham Hotspur
Dier has been very good in central defence so far this season and has established himself as a regular at the back for Tottenham.
The 26-year-old is improving and getting better, and he will be a big player for Spurs in their quest to achieve success this season.
According to WhoScored, Dier has played 10 times in the Premier League and has made two appearances in the Europa League for Spurs so far this season.
Against Arsenal at the weekend, the England international was very good defensively and was a rock at the back.
