Noel Whelan praised Leeds United winger Raphinha on BBC Radio Leeds (6:38pm, November 22, 2020) for his performance against Arsenal.
The former Leeds striker, who now works as a pundit for BBC Radio Leeds, believes that the 23-year-old did well for Leeds at Elland Road on Sunday evening in what was his first start in the Premier League this season.
Whelan added that he thinks that the 23-year-old Brazilian, who joined the Whites from Rennes in the summer of 2020, can still do better and will get better.
Whelan said about Raphinha on BBC Radio Leeds (6:38pm, November 22, 2020): “I thought he was okay. I thought he was okay. Showed some really good touches which we already knew he had.
“Turn of pace. Unlucky with his strike, just leaning back a little bit, hitting the outside of the post. He is a player that’s going to get better and better.
“Very pleased that he got his first start, happy with his performance, but I still know there’s more to come from him.”
Growing in importance
Raphinha played well for Leeds against Arsenal, although head coach Marcelo Bielsa felt that he could have done more.
According to WhoScored, the Brazilian winger took four shots but none was on target, played one key pass, had a pass accuracy of 67.7%, took 46 touches, attempted one dribble, made one tackle, one interception and one clearance, and put in two crosses.
The winger is a very talented player with a lot of potential, and his encouraging performance against Arsenal shows that his importance in the team will only grow.
