John Collins has raved about reported Leeds United and Manchester City target Josh Doig on BBC Sportsound (7:47pm, April 24, 2021).
The former Celtic midfielder and assistant manager, who now works as a pundit for BBC Sport, believes that offers will come in for the Hibernian defender.
Collins has said that Doig is a very good defender and has outlined his qualities, and he has also suggested that the 18-year-old should stay at Hibs and not make a move this summer.
The Scotsman made the comments about the teenage left-back after watching him in action during Hibernian’s win against Motherwell in the Scottish Cup on Saturday evening.
According to The Scottish Daily Mail (16/03, p76), Arsenal, Leeds and City are interested in signing the teenager from Hibernian in the summer of 2021, as covered by HITC Sport.
Collins said on BBC Sportsound (7:47pm, April 24, 2021): “I’ve got to talk about young Doig at left-back. From start to finish, up and down the full length of the pitch, what a shift he does for the team.
“Defensively he does his job, nobody gets past him, very few crosses came in. Up and down. He’s been a terrific signing. I wouldn’t be surprised if they get a decent offer for him in the summer.
“He’s only 18, I don’t think it’s the right time for him to move on. The most important thing for him is getting 90 minutes every week and developing.”

Stay or go?
Leeds and City are massive clubs, and one can understand the temptation to play in the Premier League.
Hibernian could get some good offers for the left-back, and it would be hard for the Scottish club to turn them down, even though the defender recently a new contract.
According to WhoScored, the left-back has made 22 starts and two substitute appearances in the Scottish Premiership for Hibernian so far this season, scoring one goal and providing three assists in the process.
