Leeds United lost against Cardiff City in the Championship on Saturday afternoon.

Leeds United failed to return to winning ways in the Championship on Saturday afternoon. The Whites went down 2-0 to Cardiff City at Elland Road.

After a goalless first half, Sean Morrison put Cardiff in the lead in the 53rd minute, and Kenneth Zohore added the second on 71 minutes.

The West Yorkshire outfit ended the game with 10 men following the dismissal of Liam Bridcutt in the 86th minute.

Former Leeds striker Noel Whelan was following the match, and he was far from impressed with the performance of Garry Monk’s side. Whelan has also criticised the performance of 22-year-old Leeds player Hadi Sacko.

“The second goal was far too easy and was one of the most shambolic goals I’ve ever seen,” Whelan told BBC Sport (16:59). “It did feel a little bit like Leeds of old – for someone to drive past three defenders was far too easy.

“As a midfield player, you have to watch the play build up and get yourself into positions where you can affect the game, going forward.

“Is Sacko in a good area? Am I getting forward now? Have I got the run on my man? You’re a defensive midfield player, but it doesn’t mean you can’t score goals and get in the box. Get into dangerous areas.”
