Noel Whelan has explained to BBC Sport how Leeds United head coach Garry Monk can get the best out of Pablo Hernandez.
The former Leeds striker made the suggestion following the Whites’ failure to win against Cardiff City at home in the Championship on Saturday afternoon.
The West Yorkshire outfit went down 2-0 to Cardiff at Elland Road, thanks to goals from Sean Morrison and Kenneth Zohore in the second half.
Garry Monk – Teams are beginning to respect Leeds now
Whelan has suggested how Leeds head coach Monk can get the best out of 31-year-old attacking midfielder Hernandez against Bristol City at Elland Road in the league on Tuesday evening.

“Maybe Leeds could try one defensive midfielder next week – they just need to try to get more balls into the box,” Whelan told BBC Sport.
“Hernandez is very, very good at creating things – but he needs midfielders running beyond him.
Garry Monk reacts on Twitter to Cardiff defeat, Leeds fans respond
“If two midfielders are just sitting there, his options are narrowed and it has to be a pinpoint cross. Even if the midfielders don’t meet it – they distract the keeper.”

Hernandez, who can also operate as a winger, has scored three goals and created 60 chances in 21 Championship appearances for Leeds so far this season.
The Whites are fifth in the league table at the moment with 54 points from 31 matches and are genuine contenders for the playoffs.
Leeds have lost their last two Championship matches and have to pick up all three points against City on Tuesday evening.
