Stephen Warnock says Tottenham Hotspur have already forgotten about Harry Kane because of the changes Ange Postecoglou has made since joining this summer.

Tottenham fans would have been hit with a dagger to the heart when Harry Kane headed for the exit door and joined Bayern Munich days before the new Premier League season started.

But as former Liverpool left-back Stephen Warnock pointed out, ‘we aren’t talking about Harry Kane’ at Spurs because the talk is around the club’s new style of play, instead, as he told Football Focus.

For years, Tottenham fans have watched their team decline on the pitch, and whilst doing so, play defensive-minded football.

But within weeks of Ange Postecoglou entering the building, all of that has now turned on its head, including a fearless, front foot and all-action nature to their football.

That has seen Spurs make an unbeaten start to the new season, with the north London derby up next – Harry Kane has already made his prediction.

Tottenham without Kane

“What I like is that he (Postecoglou) has probably had time to learn,” said Warnock. “Learn his craft. Learn how to get his message across. He says that he needs the right players to do that.

“He has had a good transfer window already, plus he has lost Harry Kane. But we aren’t talking about Harry Kane leaving, are we?

“We are talking about the different style of football. We are talking about him as a football manager.”

Kane’s absence will be felt

It’s too early yet, but sooner rather than later, the team will feel the absence of their all-time record goalscorer – he was recently dubbed ‘amazing’ and a ‘machine’ by former Ballon d’Or winner, Andriy Shevchenko.

It’s only natural, and when that moment comes, that’s when Ange Postecoglou as a man-manager, which he is amazing at, will be tested.

In previous years, your Jose Mourinho and Antonio Conte’s would have been straight at the throats of anybody who puts a foot wrong.

Well, it seems as though the new man in the dugout is built differently, which in the long run, might prove to be a big difference-maker.
